A.P. Literature Final Exam
Welcome to my "final Exam" page, where you will be acquainted with the crucial literary concepts I have acquired from the previous months, and the influence these techniques withhold regarding my upcoming accomplishments within the literature realm.
"There is always another story.
There is more than meets the eye"
- W.H. Auden
What Knowledge Have I Acquired?
Throughout the school year, I have inherited an abundance of concepts that pose as beneficial, three being:
1. Literature is a vault.
2. Relations in both the realistic and literary realm are not solely black or white.
3. Comprehension is often times fueled by seminar - and that is okay!

1. Literature Is A Vault
Impenetrable by force, amongst complex lines, literature is a vault. Concealing
each work of literature is an elaborate code; one intricately analyzes and
decrypts this code in hopes of acquiring the treasure within - purpose. Though
these gems may be small in size, they are vital in comprehension.
A limited collection of literature in which this theory is applicable includes:

- The Book Thief - Marcus Zusak
- The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
- A Good Man is Hard to Find - Flannery O'Conner
- Othello - Shakespeare
- The Metamorphosis - Franz Khafka
2. Relationships Are Not Solely Black Or White.
Taupe, charcoal, slate, or smoky - there is a vivid spectrum of shades amongst black and white, that is often times forgotten. Each day, those that we cherish, despise, or have hardly been acquainted with, pose as spectators and classify our relationships as this or that, black or white. This concept
is also mimicked in a broad array of texts within the literary realm, including:
As readers and analysts, we must acknowledge the presence of each complex relation, whether it be siblinghood, motherhood, fatherhood, or marriage. By recognizing this conflict, and interpreting it in multiple ways, we better our analytical skills.
Apples and oranges, this or that, black and white - relationships are quite complex, and cannot be determined without the knowledge of what is occurring behind closed doors. From the eyes of an outsider, flawed circumstances can appear very bland, when in reality, every story has two sides. Whether the issue at hand includes finances, lack of passion, gender role, or strangely enough
dehumanization, relationships could be classifies as anything besides black or white.

3. Relying On Seminar Is Okay!
Whether the piece of literature is challenging from a diction perspective, there is a lack of locating and identifying purpose within a piece, or you wish to simply discuss plot and syntax with other peers, seminar is extremely beneficial.
In the initial weeks of dissecting Shakespearean language, it was quite evident that a large portion of the class was having difficulties entirely comprehending the plot and the significance. Due to this misunderstanding, it then became difficult to apply characterization, and purpose to specific events; however, after gathering in our circle and exchanging concepts and theories, a high level of understanding rose to the surface. Having a slight reliance on seminar is not entirely bad. Fully depending on seminar and discussion is not advised, however the exercise is beneficial to individuals and as a group whole.

Reading and Writing in College
- As my educational career progresses, I will be attending years upon years of
college. The skills I have inherited from a year of A.P. Literature will
provide the opportunity for me to efficiently compose pieces. Due to the number
of papers I have written this school year, I can now appreciate the ability to
rapidly fashion wonderful papers. - Years of attending law school will also require an extensive collection of reading material. Prior to enrolling in A.P Literature, I was not able to quickly annotate and accurately comprehend the text. I can now, confidently, dissect a diverse array of texts regarding a multitude of subjects.
- As I elaborated upon frequenting literature more often above, I will also be exposed to an expansive collection of vocabulary. As I become acquainted with unknown terms, my vocabulary will also grow immensely.
